Airports, Flights, and Delays

I am currently sitting in the Newark, New Jersey airport. My group and I flew out of St. Louis around 1pm this afternoon where it was warm and sunny. Now in a dreary and rainy New Jersey we are waiting for our flight, which has been delayed about two hours. And though the trip is at a standstill at this point in time, I am still super excited! Ireland here we come!!
So far, it still hasn't hit me that we are actually going to Ireland. I thought once I got on the airplane at Lambert it would have hit me, but honestly, it still hasn't. Even as I sit at a table in the C98 gate in New Jersey, part of me still feels as if I will be back home shortly. (Side note: I am really hoping we don't move gates again. I would rather really not walk across the terminal for the third time, but maybe some exercise would be better than sitting down for over seven hours.) I'm sure once we land in Dublin, and I am slightly jet-lagged, then the reality of this trip will hit me.
For now, I am excited despite the delay. This is the first international trip I have ever taken. I've always wanted to travel to Europe, and lately Ireland has been pretty high on the list. I'm not sure that I even have any sort of expectations for the Emerald Isle. I do know that I'm most excited for all the sights we will see, as well as the Irish culture. The idea of sitting in a cozy Irish pub in the evening surrounded by music and stories sounds a little romantic. In addition to the pub atmosphere, I'm stoked to be immersed in Irish accents. All accents are neat, but those Irish accents will have me swooning. Maybe I will pick one up in the three weeks while we are there. A girl can dream, right?
I'll see you in Dublin folks!
I am so happy for you!!! I dream of going to Ireland one day!!! Enjoy and take lots of pics.
Love, Kate
